International Politics
This course is taught by an applied social scientist and feminist researcher who co-founded and runs a non‑governmental organization working with survivors of gender-based violence and forced displacement. It introduces students to key concepts of international politics — including anarchy, power, and security — and re‑examines them through feminist and civil‑society lenses.
The curriculum moves from traditional state‑centric models toward a human security framework, exploring how gender, everyday life, and non‑state actors actively shape international agendas. Using feminist epistemology — treating lived experience and storytelling as valid forms of political knowledge — the course examines the war in Ukraine, civil society under authoritarianism, and the practical application of public diplomacy and advocacy by NGOs.
